The fuel pump placement of the 2010 W207 E350 Cabriolet is of interest.

I am perceiving a faint auditory disturbance characterized by a low volume ticking or rattling sound during periods of idling. This auditory phenomenon seems to originate from the posterior section of the car. Upon positioning my ear in close proximity to the rear body panels, the intensity of the aforementioned sound is most pronounced.
Do you have any conjecture on the source of the auditory disturbance? Is it plausible that the fuel pump is the culprit? Additionally, could you provide information on the specific location of the fuel pump? It is worth noting that the noise seems to be most pronounced in the vicinity of the gasoline filler cap.

The auditory perception you may be experiencing might perhaps be attributed to the presence of an electrically controlled shut off valve that is connected to the gasoline evaporative charcoal canister in that particular vicinity. The location of the object in question might perhaps be concealed inside the wheel arch liner.

The A207 model is derived from the W204 model, indicating that the fuel pump is expected to be integrated into the gasoline tank under the rear bench. Alternatively, it is possible that access to the fuel pump may be facilitated via the trunk in the case of the cabriolet variant.

No components have been removed, nonetheless, the auditory disturbance originates from the aforementioned region. When occupying the rear portion of the vehicle (specifically the Cabriolet variant), the sound becomes perceptible from the vicinity behind the seat, in the direction of the filler cap area.
The auditory disturbance is characterized by a consistent, moderate rattling sound that is absent during the first stages of operation but emerges thereafter, only to cease intermittently. This pattern persists for the duration of the idle state.
Is it possible for the solenoid to produce such auditory vibrations, or may there be other mechanical components in close proximity that may be responsible for the noise?

Although this may seem to be unconnected, it is worth noting that some years ago, I encountered a similar auditory disturbance emanating from the vicinity of the rear section of a BMW 520i vehicle. The issue was ultimately attributed to excessive strain on the fuel pump resulting from the incorrect installation of the fuel filter in reverse orientation. Upon returning to the correct orientation, the auditory disturbance ceased. The error was made by the primary BMW dealership.

The auditory disturbance emanates from the aforementioned vicinity.
Following the initiation of the starting process, about two and a half minutes later, an audible sound like the release of compressed air may be perceived. Subsequently, a noise starts and gradually increases in intensity until eventually ceasing.
Immediately after the auditory indication of air being released, there is a temporary augmentation in the revolutions per minute of the engine.
Based on my observation, it seems that there is an absence of components in the aforementioned region that may potentially generate the auditory disturbance I am now seeing.
Curiously, I have observed that when I remove the gasoline filler cap, there is a complete absence of noise, yet the problem reappears when replacing it. It is unlikely that this noise may be attributed to an echo originating from the vacuum pipe connected to the purge solenoid located in the engine compartment.
The model I own is designed with a right-hand drive configuration.

I apologize for resurrecting a previous discussion, but I am now encountering a same problem. This includes the observation that the noise ceases upon removal of the gas cap and resumes upon its reattachment. It would be quite advantageous to get knowledge on the solution to this issue. I express my gratitude in advance for your assistance.
