Motoman
Is there anybody who can provide the correct thread length for an A209 equipped with AMG wheels? Upon initial purchase of the vehicle, the rear was equipped with M12 1.5 radius bolts with a 40mm thread and spacers of 3mm (about). The front components used 10mm spacers and 45mm tapered bolts. I have inserted a 40mm radius bolt through the wheel with the disc positioned at the rear (without a spacer) and measured the extent of thread protrusion. It measures 8 millimeters. I have quantified the thickness of the hub. The measurement is 10mm, albeit the last few millimeters lack any threading. If the bolts extend completely through the hub, any length beyond 55mm will interfere with the parking brake. It seems that a 40mm thread may be the appropriate size. 8mm seems minimal; yet, at 15mm, there is contact with the hold-down springs. Is anybody aware whether M12 1.5 radius bolts with a 40mm thread conform to the normal size for AMG wheels? If not, what ought they to be? ianwh4
eBay specifies a thread length of 26 to 28 mm and an overall bolt length of 40 mm.

Motoman
Thank you, but it pertains to normal wheels.Any regular wheels. I positioned the disc on the rear of the wheel and inserted a 40mm threaded bolt, which protrudes by barely 8mm. The 26 - 28mm threaded bolts would not pass through the disk. Consequently, it will not secure into the hub.As it will be too brief. 26-28mm bolts are compatible with the space saving wheel, but not with the alloy wheel. ianwh4
It is possible that the seat taper is the impediment. Illustrated bolts for aftermarket alloy wheels.
