Thank you. I hope the thermostat has already been replaced in the Mercedes I purchase. I drove my vehicle to a Mercedes independent garage in Chelmsford today for a thermostat replacement. They cost me £436, which is excessive for a task involving just three bolts, especially because it is easily accessible on the OM646 engine.

Issues and Dependability of the Mercedes M274/M270 EngineThe M274/M270 engine series have many deficient components throughout. The first component is the camshaft actuators (solenoids). Typically, after 60,000 to 70,000 miles, these engines begin to emit a certain noise when cold. This indicates deterioration inside the camshaft adjusters. In 2014, engines were equipped with upgraded actuators (part no. A2700501147) that provide extended retention. The second issue pertains to the accelerated deterioration of the timing chain. The expected lifetime is roughly 80,000 miles, with a variance of plus or minus 20,000 miles. The subsequent issue you may face at the same mileage is turbocharger failure. The issue with the turbocharger is uncommon, although it remains relevant. The long-term reliability of the M274/M270 is contingent upon several variables. As is customary, Mercedes vehicles require diligent care and maintenance, often more frequently than the manufacturer's prescribed timetable. That is where I encountered the issues related to the timing chain.

Isn't that engine electric? hence, the increased cost

Does it exhibit issues with the timing chain? Is it a dual-row chain?

2016 Tesla Model S (Facelift) Category S (Salvage)

Thank you. I am unable to send direct messages due to the novelty of my account. If you are available, @LayZ, please assist. I will get a wiper motor tomorrow, and it seems that an eMMC replacement has been included in the task as part of a recall. Should I be concerned about my smartphone getting rooted? -
2016 Tesla Model S (Facelift) Category S (Salvage)

Thanks @EatSuru Your assertion is accurate. The UK lacks Full Self-Driving (FSD) capabilities equivalent to those in the US; so, acquiring it just enhances the Enhanced Autopilot (EAP) with traffic signal recognition and offers no more features. This means it functions just on the motorway (highway). Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) and other autonomous driving technologies have yet to achieve certification, anticipated for 2026, after which they would be activated by a software update. The Tesla Service representative said that the disabling of Full Self-Driving (FSD) has just been implemented for salvage cars, in addition to the restriction of access to the supercharger network, resulting in the removal of software capabilities. My concern is that the previous owner cannot recall what features they unlocked on the vehicle over five years ago, leaving me uncertain about what I may forfeit if I update to MCU2. How can I establish contact with a somebody capable of rooting MCU2? -
Greetings, I just purchased a Tesla Model S Cat S with complimentary supercharging at 69,000 miles, however I failed to do prior study on the complications associated with salvage vehicles. The vehicle was rear-ended five years ago and subsequently fixed. Tesla has notified me that the vehicle would be prohibited from using the Tesla Supercharger network. The vehicle will never be capable of using Full Self Drive. Tesla will refrain from doing any servicing or upgrades on the car. The customer support representative informed me that an inspection procedure is possible, but it exceeds £1,000 and is not deemed worthwhile. I was unaware of this before since the prior owner had 'unlocked' software functions on the vehicle, including reactivating the supercharger. I presently want the MCU2 update for my Tesla, since my screen operates sluggishly. Is there further information available on this inspection, its exact cost, and any other alternatives I may have? Additionally, any information on the 'unlock' performed by the prior owner would be appreciated. This may be a sensitive subject, so please feel free to message me privately.

I own a 2023 Kia Sportage 1.6 S GT LINE. Could someone kindly provide instructions on how to disable the alarm system while leaving my canine companion alone in a vehicle? Clearly, this is not the case when the weather is hot and the time spent outside is not extensive. Thank you.

BMW - Suspected Arson - Seeking Advice

Indeed, I have filed a complaint with my insurance provider, namely BMW Flex Insurance. I have insurance coverage for travel in Europe, and the term "arson" or any similar term is not included in the insurance contract. -

I insured the car with BMW Insurance, specifically BMW Flex Insurance. -
Greetings, everyone. I understand that this message is lengthy, but I would really appreciate any help from anyone who have had a similar scenario. I own a policy of insurance that provides complete coverage and protection. I travelled to France for vacation in my BMW 5 Series, which was less than a year old. Unfortunately, on Friday at 11:00am local time, I had a puncture and contacted BMW Roadside Assistance. They informed me that they would arrive within 90 minutes. Despite many discussions and commitments made by BMW Roadside Assistance, I was not picked up until 1900 local time. BMW Roadside Assistance had knowledge of my intention to depart from France on Sunday. Since it was a Friday, all establishments were closed and my vehicle was sent to a secure storage facility where it would be kept until a BMW Dealership could replace the tyre. Despite many phone calls, BMW Roadside Assistance remained unresponsive until Tuesday, when my vehicle was finally transported to the BMW Tours Chambery shop for a planned tyre replacement on Wednesday afternoon. After completing the task, my plan was to get the vehicle and go back to the UK (I had previously prolonged my stay in order to wait for the car to be repaired). During the early hours of Wednesday morning, a fire broke out at the Tours Chambery dealership, causing my automobile to be declared a total loss. The exact origin of the fire has not been discovered yet. However, BMW Insurance has already informed me that they would not process my claim, since it seems to be a deliberate act of arson. I had a situation where a little puncture in my vehicle led to BMW Roadside Assistance taking control of it and transferring it to the BMW Tours Chambery store. Unfortunately, the dealership declared my automobile as irreparable, and now BMW Insurance is refusing to process the claim. Undoubtedly, this situation does not portray BMW and its affiliated companies, who provide services like Roadside Assistance and Insurance under the BMW brand, in a favourable light. Had my automobile been retrieved earlier and not been in storage for a duration of 4 days, it would not have been stationed at the BMW Tours Chambery store during the specified period. Is my grievance a valid case? Has anybody had a comparable situation where the act of arson was determined to render your claim void? We would much appreciate your thoughts.

They will not. Upon reading the paper, it seems like Bugatti has developed a new V16 engine. Furthermore, I believe that the CEO and creator of Rimac have a keen interest in traditional gasoline-powered vehicles. A while ago, I seen a video in which he said that his preferred vehicle is a manual M3 that he had some years ago. The following excerpt is taken directly from the article: Fortunately, the future Chiron successor from Bugatti, which is owned by Rimac, will not be an electric vehicle (EV), but rather a high-performance V16 engine that has a nostalgic sound and does not rely on forced induction.
-
Why am I not surprised by this? I have consistently expressed this viewpoint. The affluent individuals are unlikely to be willing to spend a substantial amount of money to purchase an electric vehicle, even if it has impressive speed and capabilities like the Rimac Nevera. This further substantiates the high worth of vehicles such as our R8.

Connecting an iPhone to a 2005 Comand System

What will be ineffective? A vintage analogue telephone? Is it because there is a lack of network coverage? -
Connecting an iPhone to a 2005 Comand System

Are you familiar with the term "lads"? All of this seems needlessly intricate and costly. I just want the capability to respond to phone calls while operating a vehicle. My friend has a functional 6310i. Perhaps I will just get a SIM card. I must admit that I am technologically challenged! (You made an incorrect automobile purchase then!) -

Greetings, gentlemen. I own a 2005 S320CDi equipped with the regular Comand system. The package includes a phone holder designed for a Nokia 6310i, however I would want to connect my iPhone 12 to it in order to use hands-free functionality. Upon activating the Bluetooth feature on my phone and Comand, it successfully detects my phone and prompts me to provide a code. Upon entering the code 62872, as suggested in a previous post, my phone prompts me to enter a PIN number. When I enter the PIN number for my phone, Comand displays a message stating that it is not authorised. What is eluding my understanding? Do I need a Bluetooth dongle or Bluetooth receiver (whichever is applicable)? The Bluetooth functionality in Comand seems to be functional as it successfully detected my phone. However, it fails to establish a pairing connection with it. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
