KissezFun
Greetings, everyone. After many months of mostly problem-free driving, I am experiencing an issue that I am unable to identify. After my aftermarket 19" wheels developed cracks, I decided to replace them with genuine Mercedes 18" wheels. However, I am now experiencing a noticeable vibration in the steering wheel while driving at speeds over 55mph. The wheels underwent refurbishment and were fitted with new tires without any reported problems. Subsequently, I had all four wheels inspected once more at a separate alloy wheel establishment. Has anybody experienced anything similar to this previously? I am contemplating what to investigate next. Thank you in advance, hoping for the best outcome. AMG33D
Did they do wheel balance and wheel alignment, and were the readings satisfactory?
clk320x4
If you are satisfied with the balance of the wheels, it is possible that there is some debris trapped between the wheel flange and hub assembly. Remove the front wheels and gently use emery cloth to smooth the two surfaces that will come into contact, ensuring a flawless fit when the wheels are reattached. Howard_silver
Apply a layer of copper oil over the area where the wheel will be attached.
KissezFun
Although I had all four wheels aligned last year, they neglected to do the wheel alignment this time.
KissezFun
I have previously attempted to cleanse the mating surface.
BenTrevor
I am experiencing a state of confusion. Which pair of wheels did you align, the 19" or 18"?
bvlenci
Were the 18-inch wheels for the MB brand new or previously owned? If the second option is chosen, one can experience a little degree of buckling. Attempt to interchange the wheels from the front to the rear (provided they are not arranged in a staggered pattern) in order to see the effect on the shaking of the steering wheel.
