Geek2232
Greetings, has anybody had a similar issue? One of the keys for my C250 Convertible no longer operates the windows or controls the roof, while the other key still functions properly. By default, I am using a versatile key that performs several functions. However, I am experiencing issues with the key's behaviour, which is somewhat exasperating. I am curious if there is a means to rectify this problem. Could it be a matter of programming the key? If so, how can it be done? No solutions were found on YouTube. bvlenci
Have you replaced the batteries in the key? The key does not depend on the battery to initiate the car's operation, which may lead you to mistakenly believe that the key battery is functioning well. However, if the key continues to successfully lock or unlock the doors, then the key battery is not the cause of the issue.
TDudette
It would be beneficial to know that my second key can only open the driver's side. I was starting to suspect a malfunction with the vehicle.
BEERMAN
It is quite probable that the mistake was caused by the operator. The key may be configured to provide access to either all doors or only the driver door, as indicated in the handbook. If my recollection is accurate, activating this option allows for the opening of all doors with a second click after first opening the driver door. BEERMAN
Although you didn't explicitly state it, I assume that the other key is able to start the vehicle, but just the convenience closer feature is not functioning properly. Alternatively, the issue may be caused by the infrared light-emitting diode (LED) on the key. There is no programming available for the key. Which specific automobile belongs to me? Geek2232
UPDATE - I replaced the battery in the malfunctioning fob with another spare battery, and to my surprise, both fobs are now functioning properly. Thank you to all who took the time to react with their views.
Geek2232
It seems that the battery was indeed the cause of the issue, since replacing it in the malfunctioning fob resolved the problem and everything returned to its regular state. Was the difference due to the use of a Duracell battery?
bvlenci
I am pleased that the issue has been resolved. Indeed, it is advisable to choose for high-quality batteries such as Duracell or Panasonic rather than the inexpensive ones found at discount stores.
