EatSuru
Is the brake warning light always indicative of issues with brake pads and discs, or can it also indicate a problem with brake fluid? The front brake pads have been scheduled for replacement, but I am wondering whether the brake fluid would also need updating. Furthermore, during colder weather, the temperature gauge often remains one degree below 80. Does this indicate a potential malfunction of the coolant temperature sensor or thermostat, or is it a usual occurrence in lower temperatures? The vehicle is equipped with an e270 CDI engine. clk320x4
A brake warning system is meant to activate when the brake pad has just 4 millimetres of remaining thickness. (After about 80% usage) The brake fluid should be replaced every second year or after reaching 33,000 miles, as per the Mercedes-Benz service plan. Howard_silver
Thermostats for these automobiles are inexpensive. Simply purchase the thermostat alone, there is no need to acquire a new housing. It will enhance fuel efficiency and optimise engine performance.
EatSuru
In my observation, even after covering a distance of thirty miles, the value consistently falls slightly below 80 and then promptly returns to its original level. I have scheduled an appointment for a few repairs, so I will also request that they replace the thermostat. Is it not necessary to have a coolant temperature sensor installed simultaneously, as was the case with my Audi, while replacing the thermostat? EatSuru
Thank you, it is certainly necessary to do maintenance on the brake fluid.
clk320x4
Purchase and transport one litre of DOT 5 / 5plus brake fluid (see the specifications) in order to save a few pounds.
Howard_silver
There is no need to modify the sensor. The suggested time for changing brake fluid is typically 2 years, as advised by the majority of manufacturers. Typically, automobiles that are more than 5 years old have their fluid replaced seldom, usually only when additional brake maintenance is being performed. If the last modification date is unknown, do a test to assess its current state, or alternatively, proceed with the change anyway. There is no need to incur additional expenses for dot 5; dot 4 is the recommended specification for your vehicle. If the fluid level is low, a red indicator light will illuminate on the dashboard. However, the automobile does not actively monitor the water content.
