Chrishazle
My 2014 cla has an ntg 4.5 headunit that I've been trying to figure out how to get behind. It's very hard to find a comfortable working position, and I'm wondering whether removing the glovebox would give me access to the area behind the radio. Everything else about the unit and the screen is stock, and I'm ready to install an apple carplay box, but I need to get behind to shift the loom around so that the radio fits back in its ultimate location. cheers

ML350_Colin
Greetings, Although I acknowledge that this post is dated, I kindly want assistance in understanding the process you used, as I have just installed CarPlay on my own device. Regrettably, I have invested a considerable amount of time, over three hours, in my attempts to successfully reinsert the unit into its designated location. Chrishazle
The method used was the utilization of a metallic coat hanger, with the approach being executed from the rear of the heating controls.
ML350_Colin
Thank you for responding promptly to my inquiry. I am inclined to pursue a course of action that is more radical in nature than the one previously considered. I successfully inserted a coat hanger through the area located right below the glove box in order to pass a couple of wires through for connection to the electrical box. However, this method does not enable repositioning objects to push the head back. I intend to remove the glove box tomorrow.
Chrishazle
I would abstain from doing so. The central console may be disassembled into two sections: the cup holder portion and the heater section. My box is located underneath this assembly. Adjacent to the heating unit, there exists a pleasant square configuration of modest dimensions, adequately allowing the insertion of a loom. I had similar challenges and found it necessary to take a temporary break in order to prevent a potential loss of coherence or understanding. ML350_Colin
I find it intriguing, and I want to investigate more on the matter tomorrow. I understand the sentiment you expressed on the need to disengage, since I had a similar situation before. I ultimately engaged in a vehicular excursion with the head unit protruding. It is quite advantageous to once again own the CarPlay feature.

ML350_Colin
Thank you for dedicating your time to sharing those photographs. Regrettably, the inside of your vehicle exhibits significant dissimilarities from mine, rendering your proposed approach unsuitable for my circumstances.
