carBlacken Posted yesterday at 02:04 PM Share Posted yesterday at 02:04 PM Greetings, everyone - I have a question and would appreciate any insights. Yesterday, my E43 had its first service. Upon conclusion, the dealer provided a video of the ocular inspection. The technician in the video indicates that the front suspension (struts) are subject to a recall and states that the repairs have not been completed due to the extensive nature of the operation, necessitating an additional visit. Notably, the service customer assistant made no reference to it when she provided me with the 'report,' and it is absent from the checklist sheet. I called today to make plans and, after a prolonged wait on hold, was informed that they will return my call (I have not yet received it). Has anybody else had recall work performed on their E43s? Can anybody provide guidance in obtaining a conclusive explanation? Any counsel or sharing of experiences would be much welcomed. PS. I have seen that E43s in the United States are subject to many recalls, although I cannot discover any information about the UK.
ML350_Colin Posted yesterday at 02:05 PM Share Posted yesterday at 02:05 PM If I were in your position, I would not have departed without providing an explanation and clarifying when the task will be completed.
guyskin Posted yesterday at 02:05 PM Share Posted yesterday at 02:05 PM I would want to enquire about this as well. I have had one rear suspension breakdown with my vehicle as part of persistent problems. Customer service may provide assistance; nevertheless, they seem to lack responsiveness as well. If they respond to my email from yesterday on another matter, I will also address this issue.
carBlacken Posted yesterday at 02:05 PM Author Share Posted yesterday at 02:05 PM They did not respond to me. Additionally, they must address a leaky F/O/S driveshaft seal, but that is a separate issue. If they do not call by noon tomorrow, I fully plan to see them in the afternoon. Matt865 Posted yesterday at 02:06 PM Share Posted yesterday at 02:06 PM My W213 E63S underwent a recall for the front struts; however, upon inspection, it was determined that the struts were not of the affected kind, rendering the recall unnecessary. It seems that they switched vendors at some point. Uncertain whether the struts are identical, however there seems to be no rationale for their dissimilarity; they likely possess varying damping characteristics but share a basic housing. carBlacken Posted yesterday at 02:06 PM Author Share Posted yesterday at 02:06 PM I presume your vehicle is more recent than mine (May '17), which may account for the absence of required repairs on yours. The inspection video explicitly indicates that my front suspension is under recall; thus, I will pursue this matter further. Notably, the service assistant failed to inform me, but I have already addressed this issue with her and am determined to resolve it. Had she acted accordingly, I would not have departed from the dealership until I uncovered the truth. As a follow-up inquiry, how were you informed about the recall or the need to verify? guyskin Posted yesterday at 02:07 PM Share Posted yesterday at 02:07 PM My model is from January 17, making it quite early. I spoke with my dealership, and they confirmed that there are no pending recalls.
SkippyTom Posted yesterday at 02:07 PM Share Posted yesterday at 02:07 PM My 2018 strut gaiters have recently deteriorated. A service bulletin exists, but it pertains to a limited number of cars. My struts are "continental" Q07s, not Q04 or Q05, which seem to be the subject of the recall.
