Diesel Reservoir Status

Recommended Posts

Am I the only one, or are all Evoques' fuel level indicators calibrated too late?
I refueled today, and this is not the first instance of experiencing an unusually rapid pump (or at least that is my rationale); by the time I hear the 'click,' it is already too late! Diesel is already leaking down the side of my vehicle. Substantial puddle on the forecourt. It seems unlikely that they were really impressed.
Was also occupied. I made me seem rather foolish.

Even with a slower, more consistent pump. Cease immediately at the sound of the click.

Negative, it is a prevalent issue associated with the Evoque. The filler neck exhibits suboptimal design. The click occurs too tardily. Cease refueling at the first click, perhaps even one or two liters before. One just learns to coexist with it.

The pump's full cut-off is activated by the absence of air in the car's filling tube when the tank reaches capacity. When the pump nozzle is correctly placed, which is necessary to dispense gasoline into my vehicle, I have not experienced any fuel leaks. It is essential to recognize that the gasoline filler system has a canister mechanism designed to absorb vapors, which may get saturated if the tank is overfilled or 'brimmed'; thus, it is advisable not to exceed the first click while filling. When calculating gasoline usage, I attempt to return to the same pump and rely on the sensor's constant functionality.

The cut-off mechanism is intended to prevent gasoline from overflowing. The primary danger is not a spill at the pump, but rather the potential damage to your vehicle's vapor canister if you disregard the click and attempt to overfill it. The repair is costly.

I use the same pump whenever feasible to ensure consistent measurements. It is a beneficial practice. Your experience demonstrates that, when used appropriately, the system functions flawlessly.

I have not had any issues with mine so far. I have refueled it four times so far, and the pump has automatically shut off each time as my tank reached capacity. No dribbles, no disorder. This may not be the most comprehensive assessment, but it reflects my experience during three months of ownership.

"initial click"? There was precisely one click before a sudden rush of air.
I do not intentionally seek to optimize the tank capacity. However, I presume the warning serves as a directive to cease. This is not a caution on the saturation of your footwear.
I searched the forecourt for any material to cover the spill, but found none. Utilized many paper towels to absorb the liquid cascading down the side of the Evoque. I expressed my apologies to the lady behind the counter (via the glass window) for the considerable disorder. Her appearance is lethal.

I do not support "rounding up" the cost. Some individuals engage in such behavior for reasons known only to them.
I used a different gas station than my usual choice. I will certainly refrain from returning there in the future. That is established.
For the record, I have never had this problem with any of the approximately 17 automobiles I have previously owned. Only this one.
Indeed. This concludes my rant for today. Thank you for your attentiveness and for sharing your insights. Grateful. 😁 Everything is satisfactory. Thoroughly washed the automobile before to the onset of the severe rain.

I must confess this is my first Range Rover after several VAG vehicles, and indeed, it is prone to spillage if one is not cautious. In all my other cars, one may somewhat nibble it after the initial click, but this is not the case with the Evoque.

Thank you. I have encountered a defective pump just once, which ceased operation prematurely, long before reaching full capacity. As you said, the first click and stop is the only method. I can visibly see gasoline in the filler pipe when my tank is full.
