bvlenci Posted July 28 Share Posted July 28 As indicated in the headline, I sold my X3 30d last year and purchased an electric vehicle, which has proven to be an excellent automobile, fulfilling all my requirements, including long-distance travel without complications. This experience has been further enhanced by the present provision of free charging at my workplace, although this will soon transition to a pay-as-you-go system. I am conflicted since I much miss the pleasure of driving a large diesel SUV. I often examine available X5 30d models and am contemplating selling my electric vehicle to get another diesel. A portion of me believes I may have remorse; I am not a high-mileage driver, doing just three or four lengthy drives annually, therefore I cannot rationalize it in that manner. Nevertheless, it is an urge I feel compelled to satisfy. My partner believes I am irrational, although she has also said that I am free to pursue my desires, which is reassuring as I have her approval for my choices. Has anybody undertaken a comparable experience, and if so, do you have any regrets? I would want to clarify that I do not wish for this to devolve into a post disparaging electric vehicles. We own an electric vehicle in our household, which is exceptional, economical to operate, pleasant, quiet, and has an impressive range; but, it is very monotonous and resembles more of a consumer durable appliance, lacking excitement for those who get pleasure from driving. One may invariably return to an electric vehicle in the future, given the influx of new models, but diesel options will diminish in viability. Electric vehicles (EVs) are efficient and economical to operate; yet, they may lack emotional engagement. You are indeed true that EVs will persist long after I have satisfied my need for another diesel SUV. Life is undeniably brief, and I have lately had a health crisis, underscoring the uncertainty of the future. Thank you for reflecting my views and assisting me in reaching a conclusion. The battery range of the earlier 30e model is commendable initially; but, after a few years, users report a decline to about 15 to 20 miles. It seems to be a recurring issue with the battery charge whenever you use the vehicle. Will you not get fatigued with using the charging cable? I have never owned an electric vehicle, but I have experienced a friend's Polestar and was pleasantly surprised by its comfort, quietness, and enough performance. I am not an advocate of hybrids due to their limited battery range and increased potential for malfunctions. It is either an electric vehicle or a petrol vehicle for me; I do not like hybrids.
