BenTrevor
Is it optimal to adhere to BMW MTF LT-4 or is there a substitute that fulfils the same specification? According to the Castrol oil finder, Castrol does not recommend using this oil as a replacement for manual transmissions, only for automatic transmissions. Will a 2-liter container be sufficient for the N12 2010 Cooper box? Thank you.
DSM10000
I use a completely synthetic 75/80 gear oil and enhance its performance by adding 300mls of Lucas oil addition. This combination really improves the smoothness of the transmission.
BenTrevor
Just to confirm, are you referring to the additive in question?

DSM10000
The product I use is versatile and can be used in engines. It has a stop leak ingredient that helps seal and slightly thickens the oil, making it more adhesive. I also use it undiluted to assemble engines. You can find more information about it in the link below. https://www.lucasoil.co.uk/products/engine-oil-additives/lucas-heavy-duty-oil-stabilizer
BenTrevor
Thank you for pointing it up. I saw that it mentioned engines, which made me uncertain. However, I will also get some of them. Do they provide a 355ml container? If I pour the whole content of the bottle and then fill it with the Comma 75w80, would it be sufficient? The label indicates a volume of 355ml, however in practice, it is likely that only 320ml may be obtained due to part of the liquid adhering to the walls of the container. DSM10000
It is of high quality. I have seen instances where individuals have caused damage to the camshafts of N14 engines, resulting in the oil light illuminating at idle. By adding a certain substance to the oil, the light may be prevented from turning on. This substance effectively increases the viscosity of the oil when it reaches high temperatures. However, it is worth noting that this practice is not advisable, since oil is typically tested up to 100 degrees Celsius, but the Prince engines operate at temperat
BenTrevor
What much would you supplement to the engine oil? I am considering purchasing a larger bottle of oil and adding more to the engine. This is because I just performed an oil change only 50 miles ago. 👍
Ortsmatt
I have used the one mentioned below, which is available for purchase from Halfords. The MVMTF Plus is equipped with GL4, which I confirmed to be accurate via my investigation. Indeed, a quantity of 2 is sufficient.

DSM10000
Typically, people choose to purchase a 5-liter container since it is more cost-effective in the long term and may be used in various gears.
DSM10000
I often use a quarter of a bottle for this purpose. By adding some of it to the engine oil and rubbing it between your fingers, you can easily detect the difference between the two substances. BenTrevor
Thank you for your estimation. Is it correct to assume that you are referring to one-fourth of a litre bottle? I decided to get a large bottle nevertheless, ensuring that I had a enough amount.
DSM10000
Yes, a quarter or 0.25 litres of this oil is beneficial since it has improved cohesive properties and increased lubricity.
