Engine modification?

Looking at what I can find, the difference between the Turbo & Turbo S is they have the same engine & turbo, but the "S" has a larger intercooler and different ECU programming. Has anyone tried porting the "S" programming to a non-"S" engine?

Embarrasingly, "I read it on the internet". I am uncertain whether it was in this topic or another, as I can not clearly remember the location. Some posts now say it may be related to towing capacity being raised to 5K from 3.5K, wrt the air/water intercooler.

I suppose the internet was wrong. Querying “inter-cooler” on the Mazda parts website yields a singular heat exchanger part number for the CX-90, seemingly irrespective of the Turbo/Turbo S differentiation.

Once more, the inquiry is whether anyone has adapted the 340HP "S" capacity to the non-"S" variant, as there seems to be no mechanical constraints preventing the higher output configuration.
