Assistance required regarding tyre compatibility.

Recommended Posts

Greetings, everyone.

My wife's automobile failed its MOT due to the installation of a mismatched tyre on one of the rear wheels that I had replaced. She returned to have it replaced, however I have just verified that the new one is now a ZR19 instead of an R19. Additionally, I observed that the two rear tires that were changed are W, while the two front tires are Y. Presented herein are the precise dimensions and evaluations.

Posterior tires

245/40R19 94W

245/40ZR19 98W

Anterior tires

245/40R19 98Y

245/40R19 98Y

My enquiries are: (a) Will they pass the MOT since they are all of uniform size? (b) Should I replace the rear tyre, currently ZR19, with R19, and must both rear tyres match the front two in specification, requiring both to be 98Y instead of one being 98W and the other 94W?

I would much appreciate any suggestions. The vehicle is an F11.

Salutations.

It irritates me when my tires do not match precisely on an axle; discussing differing brands between the front and rear tires is even more unsettling. 🤪
Could you upload an image of the tire pressure label located on the door pillar?
www.realoem.com will also specify the factory-fitted load ratings.

Yes, to the best of my knowledge, it will now pass a MOT. I believe that a mismatched load rating is inconsequential as long as it is equal to or exceeds the homologated level.
The front and rear load ratings do not need to be identical and are not inherently need to match.

Thank you for your response, friend.
I primarily desire safety; I am not really concerned with optimal performance or brand compatibility. All of mine correspond with my vehicle, however.
