WiseSage
Greetings, everyone. Yesterday, I visited the dealership for an airbag recall. They do a visual inspection of the vehicle, assessing components such as tires and brakes. The front driver's side spring was discovered to be fractured. I also perceive it when I fracture it; there is an audible click that can be heard inside the cabin as well. I am considering replacing both front springs and the dust cover for the shock absorber. Should I replace the shock absorber in this instance? Must I replace both axles? I have observed that many vehicles exhibit a higher front and lower rear stance after the replacement of front shock absorbers. What is the most effective and rational approach to do this? 2012 BMW F10 530i (N53 engine)
drummer
Shock absorbers do not influence ride height; I recommend replacing both front springs as a best practice. If the shocks are not in optimal condition, it is advisable to replace them; however, if they are satisfactory, just the springs should be replaced. MrGreedy
I believe they manufacture springs from chocolate nowadays. Did not see many snap occurrences years ago, but it is now a commonplace phenomenon.
Rojoires
I have just experienced the failure of two rear brakes on my M4 and subsequently replaced all four. BMW quoted £480 for a pair of rear brakes.I bought £500 for the whole set of Eibach Pro components, including four wheel spacers and bolts.
