  1. The availability of EV charging infrastructure will enable smaller supermarkets such as Lidl and Aldi to compete in the transportation sector, as they typically lack the space for a petrol station but have ample opportunity for EV charging.

As petrol stations begin to shut down, they have aligned their value addition with what the major supermarkets can presently attain.

  2. Who replaced the two batteries in the vehicle?

Are you entirely certain that they were properly connected?
Are you certain that the protective cover has been taken off one of the terminals on the batteries within the key fobs?

Easily disregarded. Can you surmise how I am aware? 🤔

The batteries within the key fob serve to energise the RF signal for locking and unlocking. Not intended for initiating the engine.

Based on your account, it appears you might be facing two issues. I presume you have tested both keys in the ignition?

There may be a defect in the Electronic Ignition Switch (EIS), which is not unusual.

  3. Has the automobile battery been completely replenished?

The fob batteries are unrelated to disengaging the steering lock or disabling the immobiliser to initiate the vehicle.

The steering lock identifies the key, and the immobiliser circuit within the key receives power through induction from a coil located in the steering lock or ignition switch.

  4. How does the LBX stack up against your GR in terms of quality? How much will servicing and insurance cost you? While I wait for the used values to drop, I am interested in the LBX.

  5. I don't understand why the immobiliser would activate, but it sounds like gasoline starvation.
Perhaps other error codes could be revealed by a more comprehensive scanner.
I experienced a VP-44 failure myself; I parked the car, returned to it 30 minutes later, and it still wouldn't start.

  6. It will not pass the mot if the warning notice is visible, therefore take it to the dealer for a full diagnosis. I understand that you would rather not spend money on the automobile, but each time you purchase a component and it doesn't function, it's money wasted! If you're fortunate, your neighbourhood repair shop may offer a diagnostic kit that can identify the solution for a little less money, or you may just spend an hour of effort and get the answer.

  7. An automatic gearbox will remain unaffected; nevertheless, your speedometer will be inaccurate if the aspect ratio is not consistently maintained. Excessive alterations may lead to premature deterioration of your suspension and steering components.

  8. They’ve sent me an outline of the process now. No pressure from them so far and they’ve answered everything I’ve asked. Next step is getting the independent inspection done and then I’ll decide.

Nobody pressured me to accept it there and Kilmacanty Transport either. Had my own garage inspect it a couple of days later before I made my mind up

Sometimes something can look dodgy simply because you're buying in a way you're not used to
